Wonderfarr

Hi I'm Dylan

I am a physician assistant located in Manhattan, New York.  Growing up, I was raised in the suburbs of Long Island and spent much of my young adulthood in NYC.  Because of where I grew up, outdoor recreation was not a big part of my life, and I certainly never hiked or camped.  My hiking origin story began in graduate school when I saw a classmate’s laptop background photo of the stunning Bryce Canyon National Park.

I remember asking where he downloaded the photo from and being shocked to learn that he took it himself on a backpacking trip!  The fact that something that beautiful existed and this kid could hike to a remote region and witness it seemed incredible and almost felt out of reach.

Despite this, I decided to go on my own hiking road trip through the Southwestern United States.  I quickly developed a passion for the outdoors and not too long after went on my first backpacking trip with absolutely no experience.  If I’m being honest that first trip was a bit of a nightmare  I was wildly unprepared, but despite this, I had an incredible time and wound up becoming hooked on hiking and backpacking.

Fast forward five years, after many wrong turns, gear fails, amazing views, day hikes and backpacking trips, I have developed the skills and knowledge to navigate the outdoors in confidence.  I went from spending my free time in bars and clubs to hiking and backpacking through some of the most beautiful environments on the planet.

poor gear choices, getting lost, a million covid variants, hundreds of miles of hiking, and some sick views.

This love and passion for the outdoors has since led me to leaving my job as an Physician Assistant in NYC  to travel around in my DIY conversion van to hike and backpack through as many parks as I can!

Spending time outdoors has not only shown me beautiful views but helped me better connect with myself and, in turn, the world around me.  I genuinely believe that everyone can and should spend time outdoors, and my hope is for you to use Wonderfarr to inspire, prepare, and plan your next trip outside!
